The ruins of Empúries
A date with the past and the history of our civilisation
The ruins of Empúries
47 km from the hotel
Located in the municipality of L’Escala, this old seafaring town, now home to the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia, was the gateway to the Iberian Peninsula for Greek and Roman cultures. The ruins of Empúries are the only archaeological site where the remains of a Greek city –the colonial enclave of Emporion– coexist with the remains of a Roman city founded at the beginning of the 1st century BC. A must for history and archaeology buffs, who can enjoy a tour of the ruins and museum.
